Born on August 31, 1961 in Mali Lošinj

Lives with his wife Marijana and daughter Petra, has worked in and travelled to almost all member countries of EU and OSCE

Completed primary and secondary school in Šibenik

Graduated Sociology from the University of Zagreb and became Professor of sociology in 1986

 

Political career


Member of the European Parliament in three mandates (2013 - currently) - elected with the highest number of preferential votes on the first and second elections for the European Parliament 2013 and 2014

In current mandate 2019 elected as Coordinator of the Socialist and Democrat Group (S&D) at the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET)

Appointed as rapporteur of the Foreign Affairs Commitee for the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA III) July 2019

Member of the PES Presidency (Party of European Socialists) from December 2018
