Islands are primarily home for islanders and secondly tourist attraction

Active work of the Intergroup has led to numerous ideas and projects, as well as promising guidelines that should make life on islands better. MEP Picula in his interview for the Dubrovnik Diary, says he is particularly proud of the fact that islands are finally recognized as unique areas facing challenges and that Cohesion policy will in future be more tailored to the needs of these communities. He stresses that today he feels more optimistic when he thinks about the Croatian islands!

"The islands are, first of all, the home of islanders and only then attractive tourist destinations. Interest in islands is interest of 125,000 citizens that permanently inhabit our islands. This is for me the most important part in my work for the islands and the reason why I have been paying particular attention to the position of our islanders", said MEP Picula in his interview.
