"This is not the premier of this kind of accident of our citizens living alongside the river, something like that happened in 2014, in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in Serbia, as well. The EU has reacted, it has mechanisms that could benefit in the event of major natural disasters. It would be good that these things are prevented on a national level", said Picula who talked to EP in 2014 to accelerate the EU response in such situations.
"The real problem lies in the speed of responses to the disaster that is happening. Brussels is not the problem, but country that has a certain amount of resources that doesn't withdraw", he says.
