"Relations between European Union and Kosovo are a two way street-the EU must help and be present, but Kosovo's institutions must do their part of the job. Though many challenges lie ahead, Kosovo is a country that deserves the EU's future ", said MEP Picula.
Picula pointed out that progress on the rule of law, justice, fight against corruption, organized crime is not sufficient and that there is not enough progress in the area of ??freedom of speech.
"There are good action plans, but there is also a need for more political will to implement them. Positive changes in terms of legislation need to be tangible and the people of Kosovo must feel them."
He expressed disappointment on slow progress in normalisation of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia and stressed the permanent polarisation of politics in Kosovo.
