You are now running for the Presidency and you also have the ambition to be the Vice President of the party. Is that possible from Brussels?
I have always tried to set achievable political goals. Of course it's possible. With the full membership of Croatia to the EU, Brussels has become a very importan focus point of Croatian politics, often offering a better view on what will happen, or can happen than when you are at home. Brussels is a two-hour flight away from Zagreb by plane, which is less than for example driving from Zagreb to Zadar by car. After all, the rhythm and content of my working commitments and plans means that I am in Croatia almost every week.
When we talk about Croatian Social democracy, what should it look like, according to you? Can you "translate" what this concept means to you, to Komadina and your team? Does it mean cutting more or less, how would government policy look like f your team was in charge?
Although Social democracy is the most convincing constant of the European left, its future in the 21st century depends solely on how much it will be successful in adapting and promoting its fundamental values in a time of global change which radically affect the rights and position of the work-dependant parts of the population. And they are increasingly endangered. The fact that each generation will be, on average, less represented in the work contingency that the earlier ones, while still whole classes of society still remain outside of politics or on its edges - youth, women, people with special needs, workers in new technologies, new minorities, etc. Social democracy should be their political identification and the opportunity of influence on events at the local, national and international level.
