An Interview for Večernji list

About his life and work in Brussels, about his plans in the following period in the European Parliament, on the situation in SDP and about Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic victory, Tonino Picula spoke in an interview for Vecernji list.

You are one of the representatives who are in the new mandate and literally moved to Brussels. So now, instead of traveling from Zagreb to Brussels and Strasbourg, from Brussels travel to Zagreb and Strasbourg. What's this life for?

Better. As soon as a man has his family by his side, it changes everytihing including the context in which he's doing his job. Of course, it requires some additional customizations, especially when you have a little child. Although my wife is no longer working in his profession as when we lived in Zagreb, I have a feeling that is even more busy because almost all lays on her back. We strive to get the most in a new environment that is not easy to adjust to, but it provides a lot of things.

What do you do these days, what are you focused?

As usual, I'm doing several things at the same time. I'm not in a position to focus only on a single topic. Let's say, today I opened a Conference on investing in municipal infrastructure at local levels in terms of membership in the EU. On that occasion I pristunim mayors offered to assist them and on the basis of the experience as a former Mayor of Velika Gorica. Before that I made comments on the parliamentary report on the common foreign and security policy for 2014. and at the beginning of the work day I participated in the preparatory meeting for the Organization of a set that should bring together representatives of the port of Rijeka, Koper and Trieste, but when we're talking about the plans, we are preparing a trip to the U.S.
