"The new president Ursula von der Leyen has emphasized openness to the Western Balkan countries, which is a strong message, but also a signal that Germany plans to continue with its European Commission chief with the same foreign policy and priorities, even though the EC is a supranational body", said Picula in an interview for Oslobođenje.
He sees an opportunity for further confirmation of such policy in the EU-Western Balkans summit, which will be held in Zagreb next spring as a part of Croatia's EU Council presidency.
