The European Parliament listened to Tonino Picula

The Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs of the European Parliament (LIBE) adopted the amendment of MEP Tonino Picula, according to which Croatia should become a member of the Schengen area as soon as it meets the criteria.

"I have urged the Council to respect the process that will enable Croatia to enter Schengen when it meets the necessary criteria, and I have emphasized that the free movement of people, services, goods and capital, the EU's core values ??for the single market, should not be jeopardized by the known deficits of a common European asylum system", said Picula who on behalf of his S&D group worked as a shadow rapporteur on two opinions of the AFET Committee on Schengen.
